This dramatic photo was taken early one morning just below the eastern side of the garden (looking North). The "crannog*" on the left is an example of a man-made island where Scotsmen once built their family home on stilts. This particular crannog is called "Cairn Dubh" (pronounced "Cairn Doo").

......and when the mist lifts.........

....and named after the crannog, Cairn Dubh Cottage in the snow.....
